CORU - Health & Social Care Professionals Council (HSCPC)

CORU is Ireland’s first multi-profession health regulator. Its role is to protect the public by promoting high standards of professional conduct, education, training and competence through statutory registration of health and social care professionals.

Department of Health and Children

The Department of Health's statutory role is to support the Minister in the formulation and evaluation of policies for the health services. It also has a role in the strategic planning of health services. This is carried out in conjunction with the Health Services Executive, voluntary service providers, Government Departments and other interested parties. 

The Department of Social Protection

Diabetes Federation of Ireland

The Diabetes Federation of Ireland provides a range of services to the Irish diabetes community

Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) Optometry School

The Department of Optometry at DIT forms part of the School of Physics in the College of Sciences and Health.  It is active in research, community links programmes and fundraising.

Fight For Sight

An Irish charity devoted to the prevention of Sight Loss. The Irish Fight for Sight Campaign is the only national voluntary organisation solely concerned with the prevention of sight loss.

General Optical Council

The General Optical Council (GOC) the regulator for the optical professions in the UK. They currently register around 26,000 optometrists, dispensing opticians, student opticians and optical businesses.

Health Service Executive

The HSE provides all of Ireland's public health services, in hospitals and communities across the country. Visit their site for information about the HSE Optical Medical Card scheme.

National Council for the Blind in Ireland (NCBI)

A not-for-profit charitable organisation which provides support and services to people experiencing sight loss in Ireland.
