Transition to New GOS Contracts in England

15 April, 2008

From 1 August 2008, the current system of being on a PCT list to provide GOS will be abolished and replaced by a new system of

  • contracts with PCTs for practices / businesses who provide GOS in their areas
  • PCT ophthalmic performers lists for optometrists and OMPs who carry out GOS sight tests.

By 1 August 2008, all providers of GOS (including domiciliary services) will need to have a contract(S) in place with their PCT(s) in order to continue providing GOS sight tests and claiming GOS fees.

Please note that the model contract for PCTs has not been finalised.  As soon as it is available FODO members will be alerted and it will be put on the website.
