Modern Slavery Act
The Modern Slavery Act, a consolidation of previous legislation designed to protect people from slave labour and human trafficking, came into effect on 26 March 2015. Optical businesses in the UK with a turnover of £36 million or more will be required to publish evidence that their operations are not reliant on international slavery or human trafficking. Operations include supply chains whether based in or outside the UK. Optical Confederation guidance on the Modern Slavery Act is currently being produced and will be available in the near future.
