FODO speaks for and represents the interests of members, the wider optical sector and patients at the European, national and local level.
On strategic issues which affect the whole sector and all businesses we work wherever possible in partnership with other optical associations, professional colleagues across primary and secondary care, regulators, business and the voluntary sector. In particular we are proud to be founding members of the Optical Confederation and LOCSU.
FODO members are constantly looking to the future – to grow and improve their services. At FODO we support that ambition, horizon scanning to understand and influence the environment in which eye care services are delivered. We seek to set the agenda for eye care.
We initiate, influence and respond to changes in legislation and regulations that affect optical businesses and practitioners.
Our policy positions and papers are developed in consultation with members and enable us to work effectively with government departments, the General Optical Council and the NHS.
