Celebrating National Eye Health Week 2025!
FODO and its members are delighted to join in and support National Eye Health Week 2025.
As a key partner, FODO has always backed National Eye Health Week, which takes place this year from 22 September to 28 September.
Working together, we embrace it as an opportunity to raise the importance of eye health and regular sight tests with the public. It also shows patients and the government what FODO members do every day to protect our patients' eye health and vision.
Our members could do far more to see and treat patients outside hospital and closer to home. However, to achieve this, the government must be serious about delivering the three key shifts in the 10 Year Plan for Health in England and ending long hospital waiting times for ophthalmology, following the leadership of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
David Hewlett, FODO director of policy and strategy, said: "National Eye Health Week is one time each year when optometrists, dispensing opticians and optical teams, the many unsung heroes in our sector, can come together to celebrate what we do and the importance of looking after your eyes. We send our best wishes to all involved."
Note to editors:
The government published 'Fit for the Future: 10 Year Health Plan for England' in July, calling for three big shifts in the healthcare service:
- Hospital to community
- Analogue to digital
- Sickness to prevention
